Cubmaster's Minute

Letter from the Cubmaster
To all visitors, leaders, or scouts.

Scouting is something I enjoy being a part of. When I was Cub Scout in Michigan , the most fun time I remember is when my dad went camping with me. We left to go camping as soon as he got home Friday night; we set up our tent and went for a short hike before bed. We woke up the next morning, had breakfast then packed a lunch to go on an all day hike in the woods. Saturday night we made a hobo dinner using the camp fire to cook it and we had a lot of fun that weekend. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Three years ago my son come home from school and waited for me to get home from work, he asked me to sit down, he wanted to talk to me, and I knew it must have been important because of the way he was talking to me. He pulled out a piece of paper, unfolded it and handed it to me and said "daddy I want to be a cub scout". That is another day I will never forget because of scouting.

I think scouting can be one of the best things a family can be apart of. Just think, scouting is on going all year, so as parent you can use scouting as a learning tool. Scouting teaches values and at the same time having fun while the whole family is there every step. Sure the scout gets an award for finishing his requirements, but the family also accomplishes goals working together.

Sincerely, Tom Tucker
